Ways to Enjoy Caboose Lake

20-Acre stocked lake for fishing and recreation

big bass

This large-mouth bass from Caboose Lake is choking on a crappie. The bass was near death when he was found by a camper in the shallow waters. The head of the crappie wedged in his gill. He was weighed at 8 pounds. The crappie was around 7 inches long and was returned to the water.

FISHING
Fishing in our 20 acre spring fed lake is one of the most exciting things to do at Caboose Lake. Caboose Lake is stocked with large-mouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, and bluegill. Live bait and tackle is available at the office. Live bait includes nightcrawlers, bee moth, and crickets. Campers may purchase fishing passes, adult $3.50 or child $1.00. Fishing is additional to camping. Guests and visitors must purchase fishing passes. See our 2005 RATES page for more details.
PADDLE BOATS
For an hourly fee, you may paddle around the 20 acre lake on a paddle boat. Paddling around Caboose Lake is a relaxing way to spend your time as well as getting some excercise. You must be 12 years old to rent a paddle boat and they must be checked out in the office. Life jackets are a must. See Rates for more information.

BOAT RENTALS
Caboose Lake has boat rentals. There are fishing boats for the serious fisherman. Boats are rented with trolling motor and battery included. Boats are rented by the half day (6 hours) or full day (12 hours). All boat rentals require life jackets and a responsible adult.
SWIMMING
If you are camping at Caboose Lake, swimming is included in your camping package. Enjoy swimming in our shallow area of the lake with a sandy beach for the kids to play. The beach is open during office hours. A floating dock is great to jump off or just soak up the sun. Beach rules are posted and must be obeyed.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Included in your camping package is a playground for the kids located close to the beach area. There is also a regulation size sand volleyball court and horseshoes pits. Horseshoe tournaments are held on each of the holiday weekends and the winning team is added to our plaque of winners in the camp office. We also provide planned activities during the summer and church services every Sunday.
